Trading risk

Trading cryptocurrency derivatives, including perpetual swaps, involves substantial risk and is not suitable for everyone. Leverage magnifies losses as well as gains. Positions can be liquidated rapidly, and the entire margin committed to a position can be lost. Markets can gap, halt or behave in ways no model anticipates.

Model and backtest risk

Backtests and simulations are models. However carefully they are validated, they rely on historical data and assumptions that may not hold in future. Statistical significance in the past does not guarantee future performance. Validation reduces, but cannot remove, the risk of over-fitting.
